MAC Solutions qualified lighting professionals will gladly perform a lighting system audit or survey your facility. Utilizing a Measurement & Verification (M & V) procedure, we manually inspect every lighting fixture to determine accurate levels of output. Thereafter, we provide a comprehensive lighting system analysis of your facility's existing lighting system, pinpointing precisely where energy consumption can be reduced and/or optimized. It is important to remember that each facility's potential savings with energy efficient lighting is different and is ultimately influenced by a number of factors, including energy management.
Age and type of fixtures
Size and quantity of fixtures
Type of Ballast
Environmental Degradation
Number of Lamps per Ballast
Current Utility Rate and Size and Hours of Facility
Specialized software allow us to render the light levels in any room. Once the figures are loaded, our software provides recommendations for lighting enhancement, energy saving lighting and controls.
A lighting audit is the simplest and most effective way to evaluate the current lighting system and identify methods of reducing long term operating costs. Many building owners may ask, "Why do I need a lighting audit? I have a reflected ceiling plan or "as-built" drawings when the building was completed".
Unless the building has just been finished or is very young, a building owner or facility manager can't know if the existing system matches what is on older plans. Providing a lighting audit gives building owners the tools necessary to understand their current lighting system. Facility managers now have the information needed to advise those with investment decisions about the potential of the energy efficient system improvement.
1. When the project is ready to be put into action, the installation phase begins with a pre construction meeting. During this meeting we address critical details, such as: scheduling of the lighting project, storage, disposal and mandatory safety procedures. This meeting is also the perfect time for your staff to voice any questions or concerns that they may have. Your new lighting project will be expedited as quickly as possible, ensuring that your facility's lighting upgrade is painless.
2. Once the lighting upgrade is completed, MAC Solutions will provide an operational and maintenance manual. This manual will allow you to easily maintain or replenish any electrical products or equipment. We also provide easy to read diagrams that indicate precisely where each product is located within your facility, cut sheets for future orders and warranty information. For a minimal fee, we will gladly maintain your new lighting system to ensure its optimal performance. Please do not hesitate to contact one of our qualified sales representatives to learn more about this maintenance program.
3. From idea to implementation, your new energy efficient lighting project is going to cut your energy consumption significantly, saving money! After the lighting project has been implemented, MAC Solutions will carefully reassess its performance through the very same Measurement & Verification (M & V) procedure that was used during the lighting audit. Comparing a before and after snapshot of your lighting system allows us to illustrate verifiable results.
All lighting systems experience deterioration of performance during operation that affects illuminance and the appearance of the lighted space. Lamps and ballasts fail and need to be replaced. The visual appearance of the site may be altered due to lumen depreciation, loss of uniformity, and color shift. And the luminous flux of luminaries may be reduced due to dirt and dust accumulation on and degradation of reflector surfaces and lenses. Most of these phenomena are expressed as recoverable light loss factors, indicating that the light loss can be predicted and controlled using various maintenance methods. By extension, the maintenance method will influence the number of luminaries required in an original design and the component types allowed in an existing design, providing savings opportunities for both initial investments and operating costs

One widely recommended quick fix is the replacement of incandescent lamps with compact fluorescent lamps, which offer the same amount of light for about 75% less energy.
One of first recommendations is to have as few bulbs as possible to stock. MAC Solutions will retrofit your existing fixtures to accommodate two foot bulbs. If you are using four foot bulbs we simply convert the fixture to accept four two foot bulbs saving you time, energy and stocking costs.
LED (light emitting diode) lamps are ideal for factories, institutional and commercial facilities because of the ability to deliver powerful levels of white light at an inexpensive price. Furthermore, LED lamps use only 10% to 20% of the energy consumed by comparable incandescent bulbs. Retrofitting can be as simple as screwing in a light bulb.
LED's have a reasonable life time of 60,000 to 100,000 hours. Replacing one 60 watt bulb with a comparable LED bulb will save over $700 over the life of the bulb.
Incorporating lighting controls, such as occupancy sensors and dimmers with your lighting upgrade reduces energy usage by 30%.
This technology is intelligent lighting because electricity is only used where and when it's needed. Sensors slowly dim down the lights to off, while the uplight remains on to provide ambient light
